Thief makes off with plywood prize: Gates Mills Police Blotter

Theft: Battles Road

A resident reported Aug. 7 that six sheets of plywood were missing from his yard. He said they cost $200, and he had planned to use them that week.

Police are investigating.

Welfare check: Old Mill Road

A woman asked that officers check on her sister Aug. 6 because she had not been able to reach her by phone.

Officers confirmed that her sister was OK and was having phone problems.

Suspicion: Chartley Road

A resident reported at 4:15 a.m. Aug. 7 that her doorbell had been ringing for about 15 minutes.

Officers checked the home’s cameras, but did not see anyone around the house. They said they would give special attention to the area.

General assistance: Brigham Road

Officers checked on an elderly man bicycling on the roadway Aug. 8, who he said he was riding to Boston. He declined any assistance.

Welfare check: Hillcreek Lane

A resident asked officers to check on an elderly neighbor Aug. 10 because the woman had not been seen for a few days.

It was confirmed by the woman’s daughter that her mother was in an assisted living facility.

911 calls: Chagrin River Road

A cellular 911 hang-up call was received from the 400 block Aug. 11.

Responding officers learned that a man had made the call for help because he got caught walking in a thunderstorm.

The man’s wife subsequently arrived in the area to pick him up.
